I have been no diarist of late, my slowness of mind consistent across most areas of my life. My carpets have a fine coating of dog hair, my desk at work is woefully untidied, and all those things which, caught up in the high energy of travel, I assumed I’d do as soon as I returned home, remain, by and large, undone.
Such lethargy isn’t doing much for my length of sentence either, as you can see above.
I have, however, this evening finished putting rather perfunctory captions and descriptions on my holiday photos, which you can see as a set here and indeed view in slideshow if you wish. Each of these images has of course its own story, some of which I still hope to include here in time.
My classroom hours, though few at present (seasonal underemployment is not the worst woe in the world but still frustrating) are proving delightful, a rare thing across the board. It only takes a core of four or five with a positive attitude to make teaching a breeze, to which the opposite is also sadly true. The first semester of this year in particular was a slog both in terms of hours (many) and recalcitrant students (numerous), so I am finding this classroom good humour all the sweeter now.
Mid-week the good señor and I are taking a small road trip. While I can by no means justify another break in terms of needing it (it’s still less than a month since I returned from abroad), our byzantine schedules mean needs must, if we would like to get away. In just under eight months we have gone from two lightly-acquainted lushes seizing the day to a couple both conventional by outward measures and expansively fortunate by our own. Our words are not for this journal, but might also explain a little of my quietness of late. There is another ear into which my narrative fragments get poured.

And to think, it started with a little Wii. I’m glad you and the Señor are going strong. I hope you kids have fun on your roadtrip.
At the moment we are debating who will annoy whom the most, but I am adamant any quirks he may or may not have are nothing compared to the full blown eccentricities of some of the persons I have transported in my car, for reasons varied, on journeys gone by.
I’m going to take your continued silence as a sign that things are going well. I hope so.
Hello! Yeah, things are okay. I’ve been going through the usual minor maladjustments after returning home from a stretch away, as well as riding out, for the last few days, a fluctuating mood that I’m starting to think might be seasonal.
These changes seem inhibitory to writing, but I have been getting quite a lot of housework done instead.
